Modpools Cost in 2026: Real Prices, What’s Included & How It Compares

Updated November 2026 · By ContainUR Pools, Inc. · North Las Vegas, NV
Modpools vs. ContainUR

How much does a Modpool cost?

Modpools lists its 20′×8′ container pool at $49,500 before shipping and installation, and its six sizes from $36,000 to $81,500. Freight from its factory in British Columbia runs $2,500 to $11,500, and Modpools puts a typical finished project at $57,000 to $145,000+. Below is everything that’s included, what’s extra, and how it compares to our 8′×20′, using their own published numbers.

One thing Modpools does well: they publish their prices and have an online builder, so you can check every number on this page yourself. We respect that, and we do the same.

Modpools 20′×8′$49,500Their listed price
Modpools 20′×8′$53,400Equipped like ours: sanitation added (+$3,900)
ContainUR 8′×20′$45,000Sanitation included

All three are before shipping and installation. Modpools prices are from their website, checked November 3, 2026.

How does a Modpool compare to a ContainUR?

Both are 20-foot container pools with equipment installed at the factory. Neither company installs the pool; a local contractor or crane company sets it. Here’s how they line up, using each company’s published numbers.

What does each pool cost equipped the same way?

To compare fairly, we priced both pools with the same two things: a sanitation system and a 400k BTU heater. Modpools includes that heater and charges extra for sanitation. We include sanitation and charge extra for the 400k heater.

Modpools 20′×8′
  • Pool, as listed$49,500
  • Sanitation (mineral + UV)+$3,900
  • 400k BTU heaterIncluded
$53,400
ContainUR 8′×20′
  • Pool, as listed$45,000
  • Sanitation (two-part)Included
  • 400k BTU heater+$2,300
$47,300

Equipped the same way, the ContainUR 8′×20′ is $6,100 less. If our standard heater (150k BTU gas/propane or 11kW electric) is enough for you, it stays $45,000. Other features differ, like Modpools’ spa-seat entry and our molded stairs; see the table above.

Both before freight, installation and site work. Check it yourself: pick the 20′ Modpool and add TruGuard sanitation in their builder, and see every ContainUR option price on our specs page.

Where Modpools comes out ahead: Their electric cover is $12,100; ours is $15,400 with composite wood coping, so theirs is $3,300 less. Every Modpool also comes with a spa-seat entry with 8 jets, which we don’t offer. Their 400k BTU heater is standard, and ours is a $2,300 upgrade; even with it, our pool is $6,100 less equipped the same way. If an automatic cover or a jetted spa seat matters most to you, a Modpool may be the better fit.

What does a Modpool cost all in?

$57,000–$145,000+Modpools’ typical finished project, all sizes
$20,000–$60,000+Their range for installation, crane and site work
$12,950Their do-it-yourself Texas install example, not counting the pool

That Texas example covers gravel, crane, electrical and gas hookups, concrete, permits and landscaping.

The same site costs apply to any container pool, including ours. We break every one of them down on our container pool cost page.

Modpools

  • Single-trip Corten steel shipping container
  • Steel sandblasted and primed
  • Two coats of sprayed polyurea, tested for pinholes
  • Modpools says the liner is waterproof, UV stable and impact resistant

ContainUR

  • Engineered as a structure. Our single-trip Corten steel container is built as the structure that encases a fiberglass pool. The fiberglass holds the water; the steel holds the pool.
  • Marine-grade fiberglass, built to our layup schedule with Core Mats and finished in a UV-protected gel coat
  • Easy to care for. The smooth, non-porous surface never needs resurfacing or a new liner, and fiberglass uses about 70% less chemical than concrete, according to fiberglass pool maker River Pools.
  • Made to last, designed for decades of use with proper maintenance
  • Insulated, with a ceramic coating on the steel, manufacturer-rated R-9 equivalent
  • Filled and water-tested in our North Las Vegas shop before it ships

Both are real engineering choices. If you’re comparing them, ask each company how its interior holds up over time and what the warranty covers, and get the answer in writing.

Who should buy a Modpool, and who should buy a ContainUR?

These are different pools for different buyers. The right one depends on your yard, how you’ll use it and what matters most to you. Here’s the honest split.

A Modpool may be the better fit if

  • You need a different size. They build 12′, 16′, 20′ and 40′ lengths, in 8′ or about 12′ widths. We build one size.
  • You want a jetted spa seat. Every Modpool has a spa-seat entry with 8 jets. We don’t offer one.
  • You want an automatic cover for less. Their electric cover is $12,100; ours is $15,400 with composite wood coping.
  • You live near British Columbia, close to their factory in Abbotsford.

A ContainUR may be the better fit if

  • 8′×20′ fits your yard. It’s 4′6″ to 4′9″ deep with molded stairs, the one size we build.
  • You want a fiberglass pool, insulated. Ours is a smooth, non-porous fiberglass pool, the same material used for in-ground fiberglass pools, set inside a container insulated with a ceramic coating (manufacturer-rated R-9 equivalent) to help your water hold its temperature.
  • You want more included for less. Sanitation is included, and equipped the same way ours is $6,100 less.
  • You want it all in writing. Our warranty and every option price are published on our specs page.
  • You’re anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. We build in North Las Vegas in 6 to 8 weeks and deliver to all 50 states and Canada. Our pools are already in 22 states; see where we deliver.

Who shouldn’t buy ours: anyone who needs a bigger or wider pool, a built-in spa, or deeper water than 4′9″. We build one size, and we’d rather tell you that now than after you’ve paid a deposit.

We’d rather you buy the right pool, even if it isn’t ours. If you have a question about any container pool, ours or someone else’s, call us at (702) 605-7265 and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Modpools questions buyers ask

Where are Modpools made?

In Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. They ship to the U.S. by flatbed truck.

How long does a Modpool take?

Modpools says 8 to 12 weeks from order to delivery.

Does Modpools install the pool?

No. Modpools says its pools are installed by local general contractors or landscapers. We don’t install ours either; a local crane or forklift sets it, and an electrician connects it.

What’s the Modpools warranty?

Modpools’ owner information page says the equipment is covered by Pentair’s manufacturer warranty: 3 years on parts and labor. We didn’t find warranty terms for the pool itself or its liner on their website, so ask them for those in writing before you buy. Ours is 5 years on the shell, 2 years on the structure and 3 years on equipment.

Where can I read Modpools reviews?

On their Google Business Profile and their website. Read the most recent ones, and ask any company you’re considering for references from buyers in your state. That goes for us too; you’ll find our reviews on Google.

Is a Modpool cheaper than a ContainUR?

Their 20′×8′ lists at $49,500 and ours at $45,000. Equipped the same way, with sanitation and a 400k BTU heater, it’s $53,400 for theirs and $47,300 for ours. Their smaller 12′ and 16′ pools start at $36,000, and we don’t build those sizes.
